welcome to the ellington server. ellington is an experimental web space administrated by ian grant, lecturer in digital art, for staff and students in the faculty of the arts, tvu.

why ellington?
the faculty of art and design at tvu is following the tradition established by lcmm of naming web servers after cool musicians. we have mingus, jobim, zappa, mercury, holst and probably others. since 2004, ellington joins the band.

duke ellington is probably the most important and prolific american musician of the 20th century. pioneering in the worlds of jazz, composition, band-leading, song-writing, a social campaigner for racial equality and peace, duke ellington is a source of beauty and inspiration. as a constant experimenter, he is an appropriate guiding spirit for the our network play.
